We've been sold down the river ever since...heavy changes are going to come down during the beloved Obamageddon's administration. Not in US/Israeli policies however. There will be no peace in the Middle East unless of a temporary nature. - James Crow

The current Israeli leadership appears to be getting a lot of mileage from Obama's comment last Summer on the Israeli-Hamas conflict that if someone was lobbing rockets into his home where his two daughters sleep, he would do whatever in his power to stop it. In addition to being a candidate in Israel and no doubt having a necessary healthy respect for the influence of the Isreal Lobby in American politics, there is little or no doubt that the Obama Campaign was quite careful not to be overly identified with the Muslim community. Most people of pragmatic and utilitarian persuasion, which by definition includes politicans, can understand this dynamic. The fact of the matter is that an oppressed people, tends to be represented by what is identified as "extremists" [who are identified by the opressor as terrorists, but by the people as freedom fighters].

Without such an element, an oppressed community--like those of African descent in the de jure segregated American South--would never be free. - Harold Pulley

ZION-OBAMA-BUSH-does it really matter?

A Satanic Cult is just that - worship of a human sacrifice to a dark god called war.

But, hey, dress it up as politics and obfuscate every system of capitalism to pay the Ponzi-gods at the top.

Lots of history around worshiping the satanic sacrificing of humans, just ask Charles Manson -- he who was outdone by the 'Governator.'

China, Russia, the Middle East, South America, et al., (NEW WORLD ORDER: GIANT BLOC) have ALL remembered their GODS are older than the one of a devil who lives as an invisible hand over the US and its' ally IsraHELL. The GIANT BLOC is not afraid of the monster created for control: "the unknown," as Henry Kissinger loves to brag about scaring the "goy," or dumb asses, literally and figuratively.

The KISS-OF-DEATHinger's contempt for the Palestinians, who are obviously nothing more than a corralled stock of live animals, with a disease that must be destroyed. Call it what it is, a right to live. Wow, what a bad disease.

I hope they, them over here, do not push Communism down our throats - like what was done to China under the pretense of "free market capitalism," during the 1800s: OPIUM WARS, A DEPRESSION? Perhaps the 1800s have revisited the US, alright, and this time those countries who were more trusting since they measured their foes to be more evolved, have decided it was a bad idea to trust the god makers of a boundary with no boundaries, IsraHELL.

Other belief systems have come into the new elected Obama's view for his idea of what George W. Bush has dictated to be America's firm commandments, and he is proving to be another worshiper of that darn golden calf that needs to be melted down -- given to the people of America to restore our wealth that has been stolen, or "sold down the river?" - Bilxoi

Obama's 7-fold mid-east peace formula

Fatah was defeated in democratic elections. Any agreement between Israel and Abu Mazen - if such exists - is de facto meaningless. The Palestinian president is the hangover of a disgraced kleptocracy. Truth be told, if free elections were held today on the West Bank, Fatah would lose most horribly.

It is more than likely that one of the unwritten terms of the "secret" agreement alluded to by Blair includes Fatah enlisting Israel's firepower to take out the Hamas leadership. What these twits do not realise is that Hamas is a popular movement. Other leaders will emerge. In the meantime, with every child blown to bits the possibility of a resolution to this tragedy recedes ever further.

If Obama is to make any dent in this nightmare he needs to:

1. Arrest Foxman for spying.
2. Shut down the flow of aid to Israel.
3. Suspend shipments of military hardware to the region
4. Hold Israel to the same non-proliferation stringencies that apply to Iran
5. Immediately open negotiations with Nasrullah, Syria & Iran.
6. Sign the USA up to the ICC protocols and direct the CIA to assist with war crimes indictments against Olmert, Barak, Livni, Cheney, Bush, et al. (Fat chance.)
7. Return to the religion of his youth.

Great article, Michael

I loved the Dorian Gray analogy Michael and have built on it in my post yesterday http://blogs.salon.com/0002255/2009/10/02.html . It is becoming obvious that Israel has no intention of living next door to a Palestinian state and this problem needs an honest broker in Obama. If Obama doesn't deliver it will be an albatross around his neck ( which Bush's actions have already accomplished ) and eventually a noose.

The Parting Shot

As Michael rightly suggest the parting shot (alias the Parthian shot) is a deadly ploy indeed. It is only used at the exact moment in which maximum carnage will be caused. I feel that although anyone with a brain can see that this is designed to mire the Obama presidency in a new middle East conflict (alongside the other two and a possible third in Pakistan) that doe not reduce its effect. If an ill wind blows upon the kindling flames we may see a terrible fire sweep the region.
Unfortunately I know from personal experience the response to any critical opinion of Israeli governmental policy. Clearly to be a critic of the policies is to be a anti-Semite [yawn] there is no room for debate.

I saw the Israeli foreign minister ask whether another nation would stand daily rockets (read: 'fireworks') rain down into their sovereign soil without such a response. The truth is that although I sympathise I also know that many European nations have been in such a position or at least related arena. When the IRA bombed mainland Britain (with unofficial U.S. funding and support) we did not retaliate by carpet bombing Southern Ireland's cities. When ETA plants bombs in southern Spain there is no shelling of Basque regions by tanks.

Quite frankly this smacks of a far more shameful affair than the Bay of Bigs. This reminds me of the American invasion of Grenada. A nuclear super power, versus a country in which, as my Trinidadian mother says, "If they had one gun than they made it themselves."

Happy new year... :-(
