It was good to see our efforts to join the masses on the campus of our Alma Mata on Nov 3 so well represented in "print". I may not have displayed my inner joy and feelings of an American Ephany as openly as the Rev Jesse Jackson the next evening, but for me, there was definitely a sense of historic fulfillment. The Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr stated in a prophetic tone, "We as a people will get there" [to the Promised Land his vision indicated, like Moses before him, he may not enter]. It was a meaningful experience to hear the President-Elect say on the evening of Nov 4, "We as a people will get there"! I beleive each of our constituent groups will continue to celebrate our distinctiveness (The Irish on St Patrick's Day, Italians on Columbus Day, Jews on Rosh Hasshanah and Yom Kippur, Mexicans on Cinqo de Mayo, African Americans during Black History Month, etc), but we are well on our way to being an American People. - Harold Pulley
