Video - Former POW says McCain is not cut out to be President PDF Print E-mail
formerpowvideo.jpgDr. Phillip Butler knew McCain as a fellow POW, and he lived across the hall from him at Annapolis. Dr. Butler contradicts McCain's own account of his conduct as a POW, and he provides startling new evidence about McCain's reputation for explosive fits of anger and unprovoked volatility while at Annapolis.  Dr. Butler states explicitly that McCain is not emotionally qualifed for the presidency.  Please, watch the video and encourage others to watch it.

Former POW says McCain is not cut out to be President
written by Todd Belknap, September 05, 2008
Let me get this straight....With all due respect to the decorated gentleman in the video, he is basing his opinion on an individual's conduct/volatile behavior from incidents of 51 years ago? Wow. I guess in this guy's world, nobody has an opportunity to change from their youthful indiscretions. Once you've done something, you're tagged. No way out. How fortunate he is to have made all the right decisions in his life.

As far as how John McCain makes it sound that he was the "only POW hero" as this gentleman declares as he says of McCain being "unqualified" to be president, even the liberal media does not agree with this. Common thread is that McCain very rarely goes into great detail about it and I have heard him many times give credit to the others that served with him at the Hanoi Hilton.

This man is off base.

God help America if John McCain becomes president.
Temperament is Permanent
written by Alkhemist, September 08, 2008
Yes, this man is basing his opinion on knowing McCain many years ago, but his comments are based on *temperament,* which does not change over the span of one's lifetime. Although a person can become less apt to fly of the handle, that basic trait is always there, and as Dr. Butler points out, the office of President is far too stressful for such a person to handle.

I speak from experience, both as a psychological health worker and as a person with a "volatile temperament." Although I have changed and mellowed a great deal over the years, I certainly wouldn't want to put myself in a position to handle the stresses of the U.S. Presidency. I know that I wouldn't have the patience and tact to deal with today's criminal political climate.
Behavior
written by Trish, September 17, 2008
Since so much of the campaign is on the fact that McCain was a POW of the Vietnam yes, his temperament during that imprisonment is important. According to the Veternans for Common Sense site www.veteransforcommonsense.org John McCain does not even support out troops so, for me, his temperament/behavior matters from back then matters

Quote from Veterans for Common Sense below - With this in mind, why is his experience of 50 years ago important today - TODAY is NOT Yesterday - it is time to go forward and McCain is not the person to take this country forward nor, is Palin. With that said, I am not comfortable with Obama either. Will the STRONG and WINNING candidate please come FORWARD. American's are running out of time.

"In mid 2007, Senator Reid noted that McCain missed 10 of the past 14 votes on Iraq. However, here is a summary of a dozen votes (two that he missed and ten that he voted against) with respect to Iraq, funding for veterans or for troops, including equipment and armor. I have also included other snippets related to the time period when the vote occurred. (continued on the website)
